About:
With over a decade of experience working with neurodivergent individuals, Dr. Tanya Anand specializes in supporting young adults with ADHD, particularly those navigating co-occurring substance use challenges—an area she has explored extensively through her doctoral research. Her clinical approach is grounded in a neuroaffirmative, strength-based lens, where she views ADHD and other neurodivergences not as deficits but as diverse ways of being. In therapy, Dr. Tanya works collaboratively with clients to shift away from a pathological self-view and instead build self-awareness, self-compassion, and a deeper appreciation of their unique neurodivergent strengths. Dr. Tanya has completed EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Training Levels 1 & 2, which deepens her trauma-informed practice. She integrates these insights to support clients dealing with past trauma, emotional dysregulation, and identity-related concerns often intertwined with ADHD. Her therapeutic process is holistic and systemic. While she works closely with individuals, she also recognizes the importance of their ecosystems—family, partners, and broader social structures. Drawing from a family systems approach, Dr. Tanya involves families in the therapeutic process (when appropriate) to enhance support, improve communication, and foster a collaborative environment for change. She also brings extensive experience in couples and marital therapy, where she uses an integrative approach combining behavioral techniques with Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to address relational distress, strengthen emotional bonds, and co-create sustainable change. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tanya is deeply involved in training and supervising mental health professionals. She regularly guides clinicians in identifying ADHD across diverse presentations and in delivering neuroaffirmative, evidence-informed interventions tailored to each individual’s context and needs.
